Last weekend, I forecasted:
"For the new week, it will be about the earnings. If the earnings are strong and confirm the strength in the economic recovery, the market can continue to rally. Otherwise, the market could turn down to test the recent lows again. On Monday, we’ll hear from AA and CSX after the market. […]

In the past 2 days, the market has been really unstable, trading in a tight range, but, basically unchanged since last Friday’s close. Tomorrow, lots of things are happening. Treasure Secretary Timonthy Geithner will be questioned by the Congress on AIG’s bail out. AIG stock has been falling continuously for the past 4 days, including […]

This morning, crude inventories came in lower than expected. New home sales was down, but personal spending and salary rose. These were enough to keep investors’ jovial holiday spirit. Energies, coals, and steels (all mentioned yesterday) continued to rise: CNX+4.94%, BTU +2.58%, APA +0.87%, WLT +1.31%.
Internet stocks were hot today. PCLN recorded a new 52-week high, […]
The market was obviously nervous today ahead of AAPL and YHOO earnings. After opening higher in the morning, the market drifted into the red. AAPL traded down to just below $150/share. But, soon after lunch, buyers came in again, and the market was able to finish higher. Biotechs continued to be strong today. HGSI jumped […]

"For the new week, the market still looks very vulnerable. The market would have to overcome a lot of downside pressure to push higher. Goldman Sach’s (GS) earnings on Tuesday morning could decide the market’s near-term fate."
Indeed, GS earings turned out to a dominant force. On Monday, stocks jumped […]

It was another wild day for the markets! Last night, I thought,“I think the best scenario for the market tomorrow is actually to open “lower”; let off some steam. Then, resume back up in the afternoon or late morning. If the market opens up, people will probably start […]
The market started out cheerfully, with techs leading the way. MSFT today said that it would reopen talks to buy YHOO if a new board is elected. YHOO jumped +12%!! BIDU also did well, adding almost $12. AAPL looked strong as well, gaining almost +3%.
But, the financials stayed weak, and, soon […]

The market got an early jump as better-than-expected retail sales report came in. But, it seemed like there was still selling pressure on the market. The market started sliding in the late morning and went into the red in the afternoon. However, it was able to get a nice pop right before […]
First week back from my vacation and the market made solid gains. The Dow was up +166.34 points; SPX gained +16.06 points; and Nasdaq added +54.06 points. I’ll just do a quick wrap with the trades made this week and go right into my Market Forecast.
We got 100% GR$$N on the closed trades:
