I’m starting to go cash!
This was because many of the tech and financials stocks were showing short-term tops. Yesterday, after the market BIDU, AMZN, and QCOM reported good earnings and news. The […]

Wells Fargo To The Rescue! SPX, Nasdaq, WFC, GS, MA, JPM, MER, AMZN, BIDU, RIMM, EBAY, GOOG, SPWR

Despite the high CPI, the market rallied today, in a big way! Even though CPI came in higher than expected, the market chose to focus on the good news. Wells Fargo (WFC) reported strong quarterly results and raised its dividend. WFC shares jumped +32.76% and led the whole financial sector on a […]

Market Gains On Late Rally! SPX, Nasdaq, DOW, ROH, SPWR, MA, WYNN, LVS

It was another volatile day on the market. The market started out the day well on the news of Dow Chemicals (DOW) buying competitor Rohm and Haas Co. (ROH) for $15 billion in cash, a 74% premium of ROH’s closing price yesterday. The market spent most of the day in the positive territory, […]

The market started out flat, but, continued to gain strength through out the day. Oil fell again, by more than $5 today. The financials reversed their morning weakness and led the market up straight to the close. XLF jumped +6.48% and closed above $20 (the support level that we’ve been looking at). […]

Another Failed Rally: SPX, Nasdaq, YHOO, MSFT, BIDU, AAPL, GS, STI, PRU, MA, SVNT, CELG

The market started out cheerfully, with techs leading the way. MSFT today said that it would reopen talks to buy YHOO if a new board is elected. YHOO jumped +12%!! BIDU also did well, adding almost $12. AAPL looked strong as well, gaining almost +3%.
But, the financials stayed weak, and, soon […]

Cashing Out On Oil, Up Goes The Qs! SPX, Nasdaq, MA, V, DELL, MRVL, DNA, GILD, CPHD

The market was solid today; thanks to a favorable GDP report and declining oil prices. Commodities and energy plays, including the solars, were weak. Techs were strong, as QQQQ (the Qs) went back to nearly $50. Financials also showed strength today, helped partially by MA, which reaffirmed revenue guidance. MA jumped […]

Money Rolling Into Techs? SPX, Nasdaq, MA, V, GOOG, BIDU, RIMM, AAPL, PNRA

The market stayed pretty flat ahead of the Fed meeting tomorrow. Commodity related sectors sold off as crude dropped back down to $115 and change. Metals were mostly lower. It seemed that at least some money was rolling into technology sectors, as Nasdaq led the market.
V reported very good earnings after the […]

Choppy Waves: SPX, Nasdaq, WM, POT, CF, MOS, MON, UPL, APA, DVN, SPWR, STP, ESLR, SOLF, FSLR, MA, V

The market was extremely choppy today, perhaps unnerved with the anticipation of the Fed minutes and then uncomforted after the Fed minutes had come out. But certain sectors still showed lots of strength: metals and miners, agriculture, and energy.
The Dow was down 35.99 points; SPX fell 7 points; and Nasdaq lost 6.07 […]
