The market started the day pretty well, seeing some gap-up opens in the energy sector and oil services. We quickly cashed out our gains in DVN and NOV (both mentioned yesterday). The DVN trade was purchased about a week ago and rendered a +43% gain; the NOV trade gave us an overnight profit […]

On the last trading day of 2nd quarter, the market displayed little strength. It attempted to bounce all day, but, ended with sharp drops in the tech stocks. On the other hand, the energy sector (XLE) was strong and led the market. Metals and mining (XME) and oil services (OIH), which we […]
The overall market was pretty flat all day. While techs and financials were down, commodity sectors were up. The oil services sector (OIH) was very strong and finally broke out! This weekend, in my Market Forecast, I said of OIH,
“…I think sooner or later this sector will break out. RIG, DO, […]
The market was mixed today with techs on the weak side. Energy stocks, agriculture, metals, and oil services were strong. AAPL unveiled its new 3G iPhone at $199, $200 cheaper than what’s out there right now:
AAPL shares traded with great volatility and was down more than $10 at one point. Its shares […]

The market started out well today and was solidly on the green side. But, rumors about LEH needing to raise capital renewed concerns in the financial sector and took the market on a quick slide. The market later came back up, but, still closed in the red.
Coals went up higher in the morning, […]
The market opened higher today on favorable durable goods data. But, soon dropped into the red. However, after lunch, the commodities-related sectors seemed to gain more and more momentum. I, then, commented on the member board:

The stock market was up today, led by metals and mining. Energy stocks did well also, as crude closed above $124/barrel. (What did I say about trying to “rationalize” the market yesterday?) Gold seemed to be on its way back up, as GLD added +1.65%. Steel stocks were hot, again! […]
The market held its ground today, even though Bernanke was talking about the “R”-word. Solar stocks picked up the pace today as did metals. BIDU continued with its run and traded as high as $292 today! Oil jumped and oil services had another good day.
The Dow was down 48.53 points; SPX slid […]

The market felt lethargic all day today. Durable goods data dropped and rekindled some worrying on the market. It made an attempt to rally back in the afternoon, but, still closed in the red. Metals were strong again today. Oil jumped and related sectors showed strength. Select agriculture plays were […]
