The market had a tough time getting anything going today in the face of higher oil prices. Crude oil topped $112 per barrel. The energy sector was strong with many stocks making all-time highs. Agriculture shares were still on the positive side. Other commodities such as precious metals rallied.

Finally, this crazy 1st quarter came to an end! The market was still very volatile today. Certain fast movers had pretty bigger swings. But, overall, the market managed to keep a positive tone. The financial sector recorded modest gains and was good for the market.

Gold (and other precious metals), oil, and natural gas prices spiked up again! Gold is above $970/ounce and crude is above $102/barrel, while the rest of the market staggered. Yesterday, I mentioned that I didn’t like seeing VIX above $22. Sure enough, the broader market faltered today.
