Reuters writes that Microsoft (MSFT) will not raise its bid for Yahoo!

Reuters reports that UBS (UBS) will take a write-down of $19 billion on U.S. real estate and related assets and have a large loss in Q1.

The Wall Street Jounal writes that the chairman of UBS will leave and the bank will raise to $12 billion.

The Wall Street Journal writes that Deutsche Bank (DB) will write-off almost $4 billion

ATVI’s Guitar Hero III to be available on BlackBerry
Hands-On Mobile, Inc., in partnership with Activision, Inc. announced that the highly successful Guitar Hero(R) III Mobile game is now available on BlackBerry(R) smartphones from Research In Motion (RIMM).
Unusual move by RIMM, very interesting and very smart if it grows in popularity as it has on the console.

Energy/Natural Resources: Solar and related companies down ~40% since 1/08@FBRC
The firm thinks additional downside remains given polysilicon shortages are going to continue at least another 18-24 months. FBRC favors Outperform rated companies WFR and WCH in the N-T.

STP extends agreement with Nitol Solar
Suntech Power Holdings and Nitol Solar Ltd., an independent polysilicon producer, announced an expansion to the terms of their existing seven-year polysilicon supply agreement which runs from 2009 to 2015. Under the expanded agreement, Nitol has agreed to substantially increase the aggregate committed volumes to be supplied between 2009 and 2015. STP is popping slightly on the positive news.

BG upgraded to Outperform from Market Perform@BMOC
BMO Capital upgraded BG citing valuation and the secular shift in the agricultural industry. Target $127.

HANS- Goldman say’s “Upgrading HANS to Buy with a 40%-plus upside potential in 12-months. Recent weakness does not seem justified.”

AAPL reinstated with a Buy@MLCO

LEH capital raise eliminates perception issues, reiterate Buy@SBSH
Citigroup believes the capital raise will put the company’s perception issues to rest and the focus will now be on the upside potential inherent in the franchise and the compelling valuation. They reiterate a Buy rating and $65 target.

RIMM: Estimates raised following checks@ADAM
Canaccord Adams raised RIMM 2009 and 2010 estimates following checks that indicate Q4 earnings will be at the high end or above guidance and Q1 is tracking ahead of consensus. The firm said product launches, especially the 3G device, are being underestimated in the upgrade cycle. Shares are Buy rated

RIMM: Launch of EV-DO Curve in-line with expectations@RBCM
RBC tells investors that the Verizon launch of RIMM’s EV-DO Curve is in-line with their expectations and that they expect strong adoption on new form factor and aggressive data plan pricing. Shares remain Outperform rated.
